 Families Vacationing in Stowe

Whether your family is visiting Stowe for a few days, weeks, or months, we invite your children tovisit us at Apple Tree Discovery.  We have scheduled camps and activities for your school-age child to join, and we offer exclusive Family Discovery programs that create a special adventure just for you and your family.

Exclusive Family Discovery: (See Examples for 2010 below)

In every season, Apple Tree Family Discovery can provide your family with the adventure that works for you. Let us care for your children (age 5ys. and up) or we welcome parents to join us too. Our full-day and half-day programs are designed around your families’ interests, abilities and schedules. Choose an exclusive from our suggestions, or invent your own. Our staff will meet you at your convenience, guide your children through an adventure of your choosing, and help you make your own unique discovery.

Suggested Age: 5 years and older. Half day programs (8:00 to 12:00) begin at $60.00, our “extended day” fee (8:00am – 2:00pm) is $80.00 and our full day rate (8:00am to 5:00pm) is $100.00.

Join our Discovery Programs:

Summer is a time for barefoot streams, secluded swimming holes, warm mountain vistas, and playing the sports of the season.  Stowe Summer Camp offers campers a choice between staying on site or participating in one of our scheduled off site activities. Off Site campers concentrate on one activity for a full week so that children can learn the skills that make their adventures more fun.  (Please visit our Stowe Summer Camp page to see our schedule and learn more.)

In the Fall our children discover the fun that hides behind the foliage.  Our focus on full weeks gives way to shorter more energetic adventures.  Crisp fall days encourage active games or strenuous hikes, and bikes, and climbs. Stowe artists share their secrets and teach their crafts. Help us pick the last blueberries or join our orchards adventure to go apple picking or pumpkin carving or take a trip to a corn maze with us.

In Winter white, the veil of snow reflects the glistening holiday soul of Stowe.  Children should venture beyond the downhill rush to taste the scenic winter adventures off the beaten path with us. We'll take them for a horse drawn sleigh ride, or cross country skiing, or snow shoe tracking, or ice skating, or dog sledding and more.  Check our Vacation Adventures schedule to see what we have planned, or plan your own Family Discovery.

When Spring finally blossoms in Stowe, paddling season begins, and our children want to visit the spring peepers, or turn over rocks in the West Branch.  Our outdoor educators help children dip nets in the ponds and dig in the dirt to uncover an explosion of buds and bugs and green.

Family Discoveries 2010

Stowe Rec. Path Discovery:
Campers may bike, roller blade, or walk the Stowe Recreational Path. We will stop for streamside exploration, a picnic lunch, and a great game of “Eagle Eye.”

Notch Road Adventure and Cook Out:
Campers will visit the notch road and explore short side trails, giant boulders, and tiny climbs in and around the notch. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch and conclude our adventures with a fireside snack.

Mountain Biking Adventures:
Campers start up the Stowe Rec. path and head off into the woods on a variety of single-track trail explorations from relaxed rides for learners to challenging routes for the most advanced. The new Stowe dirt track provides an alternative style of fun with an outer ring of up-hill / down-hill rollers and an inner ring pump track. Mountain biking in Stowe provides something for everyone.

Llama Walk and Farm Tour
Campers visit Apple Cheek Farm to visit with llamas, horses, chickens, and emus! Then we head out and let the llamas lighten our load and brighten our day as we take them for a hike and have a picnic.

Reservoir Expedition Paddle:
Campers will be carefully guided in stable canes to explore the Waterbury Reservoir. Our expedition will wander to a beach camp picnic with time for lunch, games, snacks, and forest discovery.

Bolton Adventure Center:
Campers travel to Bolton Mountain Resort to experience their new stand-alone pole-constructed challenge course. Trained facilitators will introduce our campers to the latest features such as a new zip line and the popular giant swing.

Petra Cliffs Outdoor or Indoor Climbing Adventure
Campers explore climbs here in Smugglers notch or Bolton notch or travel to South Burlington to enjoy an indoor climbing experience inside the state-off-the-art indoor climbing gym at Petra Cliffs.

These are some examples of our successful programs. We can mix and match the components of the different activity options described. Call to custom plan your day.
